July 24th-Summer keeps rolling along

Good morning, it promises to be another glorious day here at the Firehole Ranch, lots of sunshine, blooming flowers, and rising trout. Fishing remains solid just about everywhere with great water conditions and hungry trout. The NE corner of Yellowstone is red hot, with Slough Lamar, Soda Butte, and the Yellowstone all fishing great. Despite the recent thunderstorms all the rivers are running clear with good bug activity. Look for green and gray drakes, PMD’s, yellow sallies, golden stones, some salmonflies, and lots of caddis. Yellowstone Cutthroat love to rise, so be sure to give them a chance to eat your fly. The Madison, despite the crowds, has been very good with lots of bug activity here too. A few salmonflies are still lingering, and goldenstones are also lurking in a few places. Caddis and PMD’s are river-wide and the fish are the hunt for them. Both nymphing and dry flies are working, and the discriminating angler could fish either all day. The Firehole Ranch Women’s Week is fast approaching and it promises to be an absolute blast. There still is time to sign up, so call us today!
