June 10th

Good Morning Folks,

Sorry for the long delay between posts. I have been out of town and we have been very busy getting the Ranch all geared up for opening week. The tiime is fast approaching, Saturday June 13th is the Day. Excitement is building as it will be only days now before we are hitting the local rivers with our first guests of the year. So how is the fishing? Glad you asked. It is very good right now and will continue to get better as water conditions continue to improve from receding run-off. The Firehole River is producing good PMD’s in the afternoons, with a smattering of baetis and Caddis. A few salmonflies remain in the canyon stretch, but these might be gone ┬áin the next few days. However that means they will be making their downstream progress on the Madison. Look for this to peak next week, along with PMD’s, Baetis, and if we are lucky a few gray drakes. The Lower Madison is also in fishable shape with a little bug activity on the form of Baetis and March Browns. Nymphing is the main game at the moment however. The Henry’s Fork is moving into its peak season and look for this river to be one of the best bets in the upcoming weeks. Although salmonflies have moved through, I have always preferred the Green Drakes and PMD’s for more consistent fishing, and both theses glory bugs will be making a showing this next week.
Fishing season is in full swing and we all look forward to sharing it with you this season.
